Your own placenta, transformed into ceramics.

The placenta is the first home your baby ever knew. For nine months it nourished, protected and sustained new life, a temporary organ with an extraordinary role.Instead of letting this powerful symbol disappear, you can transform it into a lasting piece of art.I create a mold from your own placenta and translate its exact form into ceramics. Every curve, branch and organic detail is preserved, making each piece completely unique. No two placentas are alike, and neither are these sculptures.

The result is a deeply personal artwork, a sculptural memory of pregnancy, birth and the life that began within you.You can choose two ways to present the placenta: With a hook so it can be displayed on the wall or on a metal stand.

As a small extra, you will also receive a placenta print on A4 paper , a beautiful graphic memory to keep.

How it works

After birth, keep your placenta frozen.

Bring your placenta to my studio in Rijswijk

I create a silicone mold from your placenta.The mold is used to create your unique ceramic artwork.

When you pick up the finished piece, you will also receive your placenta back.

Estimated production time: approximately 8 weeks.

 

Important information

• Personal delivery

You bring your frozen placenta to me personally. Shipping by mail is currently not possible. If you live nearby and bringing it is difficult, I may be able to pick it up

• No rush

This is a slow, handmade process. Please allow around 8 weeks for creation. As this is still an evolving process, timing may vary slightly.

• Your placenta remains yours

After creating the mold, your placenta goes back into the freezer. You will receive it again when picking up the artwork, so you can still bury it or hold another ritual if you wish.Please note: it should not be encapsulated afterwards because it has been in contact with silicone.

• Display options

The ceramic placenta will have a hook for wall display or metal stand. Please choose the option when ordering.

• Glazing

The glaze colour can be discussed according to your preference. The purple glaze is currently the most popular one.

• How to order

Please send me an email or a DM on instagram to place an order. Once I confirm availability and the details of the process via email, your order can be secured with a deposit of €100

• Extra gift

You will receive a placenta print on A4 as an additional keepsake. 🫶🏽

 

Pricing

The price for this artwork will be €280 without the metal stand and €300 with metal stand. Tax included and Shipping excluded

Transport tip

This journey began when I created a ceramic sculpture of my own placenta.It has since become a meaningful piece that fits beautifully in a midwifery practice, doula studio, or any space connected to birth and new life.Sometimes I have a placenta sculpture available in stock, but pieces can also be made to order. The glaze colour can be discussed according to your preference.
